Amalfi Civic Museum (Museo Civico)
Located in Amalfi's Town Hall, the town's Civic Museum contains manuscripts from the original Tavoliere Amalfitane, a maritime code that was used throughout the entire Mediterranean up until 1570. Other exhibits pay tribute to Flavio Gioia, Amalfi most famous merchant and adventurer, who is believed to have invented the compass 800 years ago.
